SafeGames Polska Edition EURO 2012 Celebrate Safely. Celebrate Responsibly.
Along with celebration on such a grand scale comes both responsibility & opportunity – the responsibility to provide essential services & resources, and the opportunity to reach & inform millions.
SafeGames Polska Partners
SafeGames Poland, a consortium of organisations and businesses led by the SafeGames Inc. and Social AIDS Committee, are working together to insure that those attending EURO 212 celebrate safely while in Poland. We are fortunate to have an expanding partnership of associated organisations with complementary skills in research, policy, education, response, and the provision of services to address a wide array of complex and overlapping health and behavioural issues.
Our Partners have contributed to fulfilling the mission of SafeGames 2012 in several ways, including: providing content for our materials, providing training and planning for our outreach teams, and providing strategic advice about how to enhance SafeGames’ overall effort. Welcome to the home of SafeGames Polska. We’ve established the SafeGames website as a resource for locals and visitors to Poland during EURO 2012. This website contains resources to help inform and connect visitors with informational videos and handouts, various services available during the EURO 2012 matches, and information on SafeGames’ partners. Please keep coming back to our website as it is continually being updated with information about SafeGames, including our hosted presentations, film series, parties, and contests.
SafeGames Polska seeks to educate people who may not be aware of the risks of their own behaviour, to highlight Poland’s best practices in public health and safety, and to support the ongoing work of the many organisations working to provide solutions to Poland’s challenges.
SafeGames Poland, a consortium of more than 20 Poland based organisations, led by the Social AIDS Committee and SafeGames Inc, will employ a wide array of outreach and advocacy practices. SafeGamesʼ teams of 800-plus outreach workers – easily identified by their distinctive SafeGames hats and superhero alter egos, including Captain Condom, Methadone Man, Buprenorphine Babe, Epidemiology Guy, Bi-Curious, and the Caped and Always-Protected Crusader – will distribute SafeKits containing condoms, lube, glow sticks, DVDs, and other incentives, as well as informational cards and referrals to local service providers and resources.
With an estimated 500,000 people expected to attend EURO 2012 and many more flooding the city to celebrate, we expect to be kept very busy proclaiming our harm reduction message. In addition to safer sex, SafeGames will be promoting responsible alcohol and drug consumption — including health and safe use information — and providing referrals to support groups as well as to public transportation information resources, to ensure that everyone gets to their destinations safely.
Celebrate Safely. Celebrate Responsibly.
